A Peek Inside

In January of 1925, in the town that dreaded sundown, 14 people in the Redcutt community gathered in Mrs. J.J. Vaughn’s home and organized Buchanan First Baptist Church.

We operate on the 75% principle, meaning you will only be happy with what’s going on about 75% of the time, because your giving up the other 25% for someone down the pew who is different from you, but who really needs what you have to offer. In spite of this, the Holy Spirit shows up with great regularity and the hair on the back of our necks go up and we get the courage and wisdom we need to make changes in our lives.

The people in our church are human (perfectly imperfect)! We are curious, fun-loving, warm, open, questioning, young, and young at heart just like God made us and we are becoming more like Christ.
